Pompjeesmusée an der Géitz: When Passion Sparks a Flame…

It was in the heart of a firefighters’ meeting that the idea sparked: there had to be a place to tell their story. So they built it with their own hands.

What started as a simple idea between enthusiasts quickly turned into a concrete project. In 2018, they took over the former fire station in Niederwiltz, rolled up their sleeves, and with the help of volunteers, transformed the place. No big budget—just energy, determination, and support from a few valued public and private sponsors.

Step by step, the Pompjeesmusée an der Géitz came to life. Luxembourgish and international uniforms, vintage helmets, extinguishers, rescue tools, breathing protection… and at the center of it all, the true stars: several old fire trucks, carefully restored and gleaming like new. Each one tells a story of its time, a mission, an of brave firefighters.

Upstairs, a dedicated space introduces children to fire safety from an early age.

More than just an exhibition, the Pompjeesmusée is a living tribute to the men and women who chose to serve. It’s the result of volunteer commitment, shared passion, and a memory lovingly passed from generation to generation.
